The Bhopal Memory Project

outside the classroom | student activism

Although it is important to study Bhopal in the classroom, the makers of this website recognize the need for action outside of it as well.

Many student organizations have taken up the Bhopal cause on college and high school campuses. Students for Bhopal was founded in 2003 as a mother organization for all student groups working for the Bhopal cause. Founded in the USA, Students for Bhopal has grown immensely in the past few years and has become a leading voice for the campaign abroad. In 2006 Students for Bhopal was brought to India and continues to grow. If you would like to become involved please email Ryan Bodanyi in the USA or Shalini Sharma in India. A website in French is also available: Les Enfants de Bhopal (must be accessed through Internet Explorer).

Below is a list of organizations which work with and/or have chapters which are part of Students for Bhopal:

Amnesty International

Asha for Education

Association for India's Development (AID), USA

Student Environmental Action Collective, USA

Sierra Student Coalition, USA
